Alex & Beatrice were set up by a mutual friend who saw something before either of them did. It was her secondary school friend, his colleague, playing matchmaker with enough conviction to bring two people together who might never have found each other otherwise. Three years later, Alex and Beatrice stood in the East Garden of The Fullerton Hotel Singapore and made it official, in front of their closest people, with a full hour of praise and worship and a pastor who had come all the way from their church to be there.
Faith runs through this wedding like a thread. Religion matters to both their parents, and it matters to Alex and Beatrice too. They wanted a real church service, not a solemnisation dressed up with flowers, but a full hour of praise and worship, their pastor present, the congregation singing. The moment the solemnisation ended, the sky opened up. The storm blew in without warning as though the sky had been holding its breath. The East Garden, with its open sky and lush greenery, provided the perfect outdoor setting for a ceremony that was as much worship as it was wedding.
Ask anyone who knows them and they’ll tell you the same thing: Alex gives everything he has, always. Beatrice will tell you he is the red guy from Inside Out and she says it with the kind of affection that only comes from truly knowing someone. She is, by her own account, the ice cream to his fire. She reads his moods before he speaks them. She knows when to give him space and when to pull him back. They are both deeply family-oriented people.
One of the highlights of the night was Alex singing at his own wedding, with his best man on the piano. A groom who pours 200% into every preparation, standing up in front of everyone who loves him and offering his voice. It landed exactly the way it was meant to.
